VOCM CARES RADIOTHON RAISES FUNDS FOR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE     WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  -- As of April 14., 2021, there has been over $71K raised for the VOCM Cares Ronald McDonald House Charities of NL Radiothon.  The VOCM Cares Foundation uses their resources to help local charities in Newfoundland and Labrador through methods such as community service and project funding. This partnership will continue to be beneficial for both parties and VOCM continues to show their alliance with our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Josh Skinner , a local resident of the Ronald McDonald House, gave a testimonial on how RMHC provides benefits within the health care system .      "Skinner  spent the ten months going through surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatment, and being able to stay at RM House helped in his recovery. The Czech branch of Ronald McDonald House Charities has reached an agreement with Motol Teaching Hospital after 15 years of effort

Ronald McDonald House Charities "Czech Branch" Reaches Partnership Agreement with Motol Teaching Hospital        WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  --  The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities is to provide families with ill children a place to stay without the burden of financing and commute. With the organization beginning to expand across the globe, the first Ronald McDonald House in the Czech Republic will begin construction at the University Hospital in Motol.         The new facility will be able to provide residency to up to 21 families. The chosen location at Motol University was decided on because of its oncology and hematology center which is among the best in the world. Crews Subaru Donates to Charleston RMHC April 13, 2021 Crews Subaru generously helped raise over $70,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, supporting their annual “Share the Love” fundraiser. This gift marks the sixth year in a row Crews Subaru has contributed to the RMH of Charleston, totalling their giving at $325,000.  Crews Subaru partners with the RMH of Charleston for the annual “Share the Love” fundraising event, which was held Nov. 19, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021, by donating money each time a vehicle is sold.  Ken French the Events Manager at Crews Subaru commented, “Each retailer signs a commitment to do the right things in the community, to serve the community, as well as our customers… With the help of Subaru American, we will continue to do good things in the community.” Pictured right to left: Crews Subaru employees Brielle Flemming, Tony Richards, and Carl Hannigan. RMHC doubling bedrooms for growing need April 21, 2021 As of March 30, 2021, the Ronald McDonald House Charities ® across Canada will be adding 410 bedrooms to facilities to assist with the growing need to serve sick children. This expansion will “ grow from 522 bedrooms to 932 through a capital investment of over $244 million.” Since RMHC of Canada only serves about 20% of the children they could be serving, this addition will help continue to work towards being able to serve 100% of the children who need RMHC in Canada. With only 16 specialized children’s hospitals in Canada, RMHC provides crucial support to these patients that has only since the beginning of this pandemic. Donated apartment helps Shah family through transplant April 21, 2021 As of December 21, 2020, the Shah family of San Francisco received a donated apartment through Bay Area companies. The recipient going through treatment, Tauseef went through a bone marrow transplant and he says the recovery went smoother thanks to the apartment they had close by.  Shah along with the majority of other residents at RMHC are severely immunocompromised. Through the pandemic, RMHC has had to lower the amount of residents they have in their facility to maintain social distancing and keep up with deep cleaning.  Due to this, RMHC Bay Area has received ten apartments from donations and plans to continue using them after the pandemic. Donors realized that the communal style living of the typical RMHC housing wasn’t best suited for the residents for this past year, so many residents have been extremely grateful for the apartments.   RMHC Partners with NFL Prospect Virginia Tech football star looks to give back to the community March 17, 2021 A local Ronald McDonald House has announced an ambassador partnership with Virginia Tech football player and NFL prospect Christian Darrisaw to increase awareness and understanding of the nonprofit. Darrisaw has a desire to create a positive impact on his community. His marketing representative, Terence Tarrer, reached out to RMHC of Southwest Virginia to facilitate the new partnership, according to a release from the nonprofit. “Christian is a true Hokie at heart and it’s very important to give back to the Hokie Community and [he] wants to be a part of something that helps those going through a tragedy on an ongoing basis,” said Tarrer. Darrisaw is an offensive lineman at Virginia Tech. As a freshman, he earned ESPN Freshman Midseason All-American honors and secured a place on the 247 Sports Freshman All-American Team.   RMHC Welcomes Volunteers for Outdoor Chores Volunteers step out of work for the day to help out in the community April 11, 2021 E mployees of two companies took a break from the typical day at the office to give back to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States through outdoor service projects on Friday, the first time volunteers returned since the onset of the pandemic. Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children and ill/expectant mothers being treated at local hospitals. The house is located at 3402 S. Jackson Ave. The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located inside Mercy Hospital Joplin and provides families at no cost a place to rest, do laundry, shower and grab a bite to eat. “What has impacted us is that we can’t have our regular volunteers here because of COVID-19, nor can we have the construction companies that normally help us,” she said. “This was like a godsend. Law Firm Donates $28,000

Law Firm Donates $28,000 to RMHC Jan. 26, 2021 Bordas & Bordas, a local law firm in the Pittsburgh area, has partnered up with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has donated $28,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Bordas & Bordas emphasizes philanthropy and has made it one of their goals to give back to the community. They have agreed to donate $500 for every sack made by the Steelers defense for the 2020-2021 season. In total, the Steelers had 56 sacks, which equates to $28,000. This money was then given to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in a donation. “At Bordas & Bordas, we feel it is important to give back to the organizations in our community. Six years ago, we partnered with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Sacks for Kids program. Gretchen Manning named CEO Gretchen Manning has been named the new CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England (RMHCNE). This announcement came from Paula Wright, President of the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England, on March 11, 2021.  Some of Manning’s achievements before being named CEO are: Executive cabinet level positions in government and higher education Deputy Executive Director of the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges Relief Volunteer for RMHCNE During her time with the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges, she was able to acquire over $40 million in federal grants for the expansion of their workforce development programs.   Sporting Clays for RMHC   Fundraiser supporting Topeka Ronald McDonald House scheduled for Saturday April 15, 2021 Robert Lagree Memorial is hosting a clay shooting tournament where all the proceeds go to support the local Ronald McDonald House in Topeka. The tournament will consist of a dozen stations, at each course you shoot clay targets in the air that are either flying away or towards you!
